Wabasha Veteran Memorials

There are two parks within Wabasha with Veteran Memorials: Cannon Park and Veterans Park.

Veterans Park

Veterans Park is located at the intersection of Pembroke Ave and Hiawatha Dr. The park is used for the annual Memorial Day event. The park features a sculpture made from Red Oak by local Wabasha artist Jim Smit. According to Mr. Smit, the objective for the statue was not to glorify war but to honor those who sacrificed their lives. The statue was dedicated in 1995. The park also features a granite monument with a flag pole.

Cannon Park

In Cannon Park, there is a World War I Cannon. Cannon Park is located at Milligan Ave. and Hiawatha Drive E. The history account of Cannon Park says that it was used for patriotic celebrations until Veterans Park was built.
