Civil
War
Last Union
Veteran: Albert H. Woolson, died August 2, 1956 at the reported age of 109 in Duluth, MN. He is buried in Park Hill Cemetery, Duluth, MN. Albert was born in Antwerp, NY. Mr. Woolson served as a drummer boy in Company D. 1st Minnesota Heavy Artillery Regiment. He lived in Minnesota following the war until is death. When passed away, the Grand Army of the Republic was dissolved. Research in 2206 reported that Mr. Woolson was only 106 but was still the last living Civil War veteran.
Last Confederate
Veteran: John Salling*, died March 16, 1958 at the age of 112.
Last Widow:
Alberta Martin, died May 31, 2004 at age 97. In 1927, following
the death of her first husband, she married confederate veteran
William Jasper Martin in a May-December marriage. Alberta
was 21, William a hearty 81. This union produced a son.
*In dispute. Some
thought that he may have not been a veteran at all.

Last Veteran: Nathan E.
Cook, died September 10, 1992 at the age of 106.
World War I
Last U.S. Male Veteran: Frank Woodruff Buckles, born February 1, 1901, died February 27, 2011 at the age of 110.
Last U.S. Female Veteran: Charlotte Louise Berry Winters, died March 27, 2007 at the age of 109.
Last British Veteran: Harry Patch, died July 25, 2009 at age 111.
